A pledge is an intentional response to God’s gifts in our lives. In deciding how much to give, some follow “percentage giving,” a traditionally a percentage of one's income.

There is also the idea that comes from the bible of dedicating the “first fruits” of our labor off the top (rather than what’s left after our expenses have been covered). No matter what we are able to pledge, we have discovered that committing to a level of giving honors God’s generosity to us.
