Homecoming Sunday: celebrating our 263rd year!
On Sunday, September 20th, 2020, Norfield Congregational Church began its 263rd year by celebrating how God empowers our faith, reminding us that we move forward, not by what we see, but by faith. We hosted this year's Annual Homecoming Sunday Worship Service and Children's Sermon as our first live outdoor event since the start of the pandemic.
A Long Tradition
Homecoming has a long tradition among church congregations and families. Norfield Church's Homecoming has traditionally included preaching, singing and other sacred music, and other shared festivities. We have typically begun Homecoming with prayer, followed by hymns, a sermon, outdoor activities, games for young people, and guest preachers, and a shared feast.
Faith in Action
Here is what our faith does; it gives us hope, confidence, and trust in the God we know in Jesus Christ. We walk by faith because we believe that our faith spurs us to action in our work, worship and world. Norfield has a long, rich and very diverse heritage here in Weston. Our congregation reflects the character of our community. We are a family and part of the family of God.
Adapting to Unfamiliar Times
This year we had to change things to accomodate social distancing and other health safety measures due to the COVID19 pandemic, but our limited-space turnout was great! Congregants expressed thanks and gratitude to be able to relax in one another's company again. Welcome Home Norfield!
